Why? - Distributed Network's RC5-64 bit challenge. The privacy that we all enjoy, through encryption, every time we make a secure transaction on the internet is thanks in part to this project. How? - Encryption is a method of scrambling the data that we send over any network medium. This is seen by the Government as a military tactic, and thus we are governed as to what type of encryption methodology and the strength. The nice folks at www.distributed.net has come up with a way for all of us to work towards proving or disproving the efficacy of various encryption methodologies and their respective encryption strengths. This is done by installing a non-intrusive, low priority program that runs mathematical computations in efforts of decrypting the secret message. Reward? - Yes, there is a purse of monies to the winning team, and to the winning individual, as well as to www.distributed.net for their efforts in implementing the mechanisms in place. Check our statistics out: Why not join forces and install the client, or better still, join our team. To join, you need to first install the client and configure it to your email address. After a couple days, you will be automatically entered into the Stats database. Once you are in the stats database, you will be assigned a user id number. Once you are ready to join our team, click join our team and enter your user id number followed by your password. Team kendryl thanks you for your interest. Remember all of us and the nice folks at www.distributed.net the next time you do a web purchase or pay bills with your web browser. |
